Since 2002, Urban Fabric has been restoring and revitalizing homes and properties in the essential neighborhoods that define our city.  In that time, we have completed a great variety of projects, from kitchen and whole house renovations to custom homes to multi-unit apartment buildings.

In all of our projects, we bring a deep understanding of preservation and restoration, most notably how to integrate modern architectural aesthetics into decades old residential structures and neighborhoods.  Today, Urban Fabric’s reputation for quality, craftsmanship and artistry is so strong, the city of Denver actually had to change its zoning codes to prevent copycats.  

Doug Dawson is the founder of Urban Fabric, an urban remodeling, construction and development company focused on restoring and redeveloping the residential properties that make up the fabric of Denver’s signature neighborhoods. Doug brings a wealth of experience and training in preservation and restoration to his current position.   

For more than three decades, Doug has been managing residential and commercial building projects.  

As a General Contractor, Doug has overseen construction in New York and Colorado, ranging in scope from single-family homes to industrial and institutional “built from the ground-up” projects. 

As an Owner’s Rep, Doug has been involved in the construction of Rock Bottom restaurants throughout the United States, as well as the Palace Lofts in LoDo, Officer’s Row Lofts in Lowry, and several other large-scale, multi-family developments in Denver. 

Doug received his B.A. from Kenyon College, and a Masters of Real Estate and Construction degree from the University of Denver.  In addition, Doug has served on the boards of PetAid of Colorado and several other non-profits.
